Long-Time Secretary To DA's Succumbs
Mrs. Matie N. Haidlinger, 1047 Evans St., long-time secretary in the Winnebago County district attorney's
office, died Wednesday at 2:25 p.m. at Madison General Hospital, following an illness of six months.
A native of Oshkosh, she was the daughter of the late George and Alvina Niemuth. She attended Read
School, Oshkosh High and Oshkosh State College.
She was married to Charles R. Haidlinger on June 12, 1928.
Over a period of more than 25 years, Mrs. Haidlinger assisted the late D. K. Allen and Frank B. Keefe and
their successors in the office of district attorney, continuing to serve the present district attorney, Jack D. Steinhilber.
As legal secretary, she was an expert in forming resolutions and working closely with the county board,
police and sheriff's department. She was a member of the UCT Auxiliary and Court House Employe[e]'s Assn.
Surviving are her husband, Charles; five sisters, Mrs. Elsie N. Marks, San Mateo, Calif., Mrs. Pat Howlett,
Appleton, Mrs. Allen Gibson, Neenah, Mrs. O. T. Witte and Miss Emma Niemuth, Oshkosh; three brothers, George, William and Leo Niemuth, Oshkosh; four nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Konrad Funeral Home, with the Rev. Erling W. Rabe, pastor
of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from Friday at 3 p.m. until the hour of services.
