ST. PAUL -- Lemoine Alton Meyer, 82, of St. Paul, died Friday, March 24, 2006, at the Howard County
Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul. The Rev. Thomas
Clark will officiate. Interment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery at 2 p.m. with military honors by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post No. 119 of St. Paul.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home of St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Meyer was born April 12, 1923, in St. Libory to Fred and Meta (Niemoth) Meyer.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Phyllis, of St. Paul; a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney
and Deb Meyer of St. Paul; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Greg Eirick of Grand Island and Kristi and Mike Morris of Cedar Bluffs; one brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Murena Meyer of Central City; and one sister, Lorraine Kutch of Idaho Springs, Colo.
Other survivors include six grandchildren, Jeremy, Nathan and Nicholas Meyer, Michelle Watson and her
husband, Jerry, Jamie Eirick and Breane Morris; and two great-grandchildren, Jordan and McKenna Watson.
Lemoine was baptized April 29, 1923, and confirmed June 27, 1937, at St. John's Lutheran Church in
Palmer.
He first attended District 45, graduated from 8th grade at District 73 in Howard County and then attended
St. Paul High School where he graduated in 1942.
Lemoine entered the U.S. Navy May 21, 1945, where he served as a motor machinist's mate until
receiving his discharge July 21, 1946.
He was united in marriage to Phyllis Schimmer Sept. 18, 1946, in Grand Island.
The couple first lived near Abbott where he was a dealer for Archer Oil for many years and also sold
Farmer's Hybrid Seed.
In 1969, they moved to a farm west of St. Paul where he was engaged in farming and also continued to
work for Archer Oil and Farmer's Hybrid Seed. They moved to St. Paul in 1985. At that time, he began working for the Farwell Irrigation District. He worked there until his retirement in 2003.
He loved being with his family and he cherished his grandchildren. Lemoine enjoyed woodworking, taking
care of his yard and garden and loved to play cards.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and the Carl Mogensen American Legion Post No. 119, both
of St. Paul, the Platt-Duetsche of Grand Island and the Navy Seabees.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Douglas Meyer; and an infant brother, Kenneth
Meyer.
Memorials are suggested to Christ Lutheran Church, the Howard County Community Hospital Foundation
or to the donor's choice.
