- Ernest W. Meininger
84, WWII Veteran
- Ernest W. "Ernie" Meininger,
84 of Grand Island died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at the Hamilton
Manor
- in Aurora.
- Memorial Services will be at 2 p.m.
Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home. The Rev. George Wheat will
- officiate. Burial will be in the
Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
- Mr. Meininger was born Nov. 2, 1920,
at Shickley to Carl and Emma (Heidemann) Meininger.
- Survivors of the immediate family
include a son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Carmen Meininger of
Grand
- Island; and a daughter and son-in-law,
Marcia and Jim Schwaderer of Lincoln.
- Those also left to cherish his memory
are grandchildren, Shane, Christopher and Traci Meininger, Kerri
- Colclashre, and Travis Schwaderer,
and great grandchildren Carter and Tenley.
- Ernie was raised and received his
education in Grand Island. He entered the United States Army
on Jan.
- 4, 1943, and was honorably discharged
on Nov. 3 1945.
- He was united in marriage to Evelyn
Wagner on Feb. 1, 1942, at Yuma, Ariz. They made their home in
- Grand Island where Ernie owned and
operated Andy's Rendering Plant until retiring in 1982.
- He enjoyed football, baseball and
western movies.
- He was preceded in death by his
father, mother, stepfather, Andy Christiansen; and a brother,
Edward C.
- "Bud" Meininger.
- Memorials are suggested to the family.
