Ernest W. Meininger
84, WWII Veteran
Ernest W. "Ernie" Meininger, 84 of Grand Island died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at the Hamilton Manor
in Aurora.
Memorial Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home. The Rev. George Wheat will
officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Meininger was born Nov. 2, 1920, at Shickley to Carl and Emma (Heidemann) Meininger.
Survivors of the immediate family include a son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Carmen Meininger of Grand
Island; and a daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Jim Schwaderer of Lincoln.
Those also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren, Shane, Christopher and Traci Meininger, Kerri
Colclashre, and Travis Schwaderer, and great grandchildren Carter and Tenley.
Ernie was raised and received his education in Grand Island. He entered the United States Army on Jan.
4, 1943, and was honorably discharged on Nov. 3 1945.
He was united in marriage to Evelyn Wagner on Feb. 1, 1942, at Yuma, Ariz. They made their home in
Grand Island where Ernie owned and operated Andy's Rendering Plant until retiring in 1982.
He enjoyed football, baseball and western movies.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepfather, Andy Christiansen; and a brother, Edward C.
"Bud" Meininger.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
