Robert L. Beyer, age 77, 1010 Robin Lane, Shawano, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at his
home. He was born on July 28, 1926, in the Shawano County town of Green Valley, son of the late Herman and Louella (Greishbach) Beyer. From 1952-1954 Bob served in the U.S. Army and was a combat veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was a member of the Shawano VFW Post 2723, the Shawano 408 and member of the Shawano American Legion where he served as the post commander in 1980-81 and as the County Legions Commander from 1982-83. On June 1, 1957, he was united in marriage to the former Donna Niemuth at St. Pauls Lutheran Church of South DuPont, WI. He had formerly worked in area retail stores and for 20 years at Consolidated Badger of Appleton, retiring in 1987. Following his retirement he worked at Pick n Save of Shawano. Throughout his life he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, for many years he was a Boy Scout Troop Leader for Troop 35. Bob had a special interest in gardening and growing miniature roses. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church where he served as an usher, member of the Mens Fellowship Club, volunteered as the Senior Citizens Bus Driver and was the Captain of the St. James Dartball team.

(Mark) Langfield, Grafton, WI; Pamela (Daniel) Goodreau, Hartford, WI; Robert (Lindsay) Beyer Jr., Seymour; Grandchildren, Rebecca West, Shawano; Marie Beyer, Clintonville; Jennifer (Art) Zimmerman, Oshkosh; Samantha, Danielle, Zachary, Beyer of Manawa; Melissa Bischoff, Oshkosh; Meagan and Mariah Langfield, Grafton; Britney and Joshua Goodreau, Hartford; Rachel and Jacob Beyer, Seymour; Great-grandchildren, Sabrina and Kaitlyn West and Makaylah Zimmerman; sisters, Carol (Melvin) Oppermann, Shawano; Donna (Kenneth) VanLanen, DePere; Mary Beyer, Green Bay; brother, Kenneth (Geri) Beyer, Gresham.
He was also preceded in death by two granddaughters, Theresa and Christine Beyer; brothers, Wallace
and Herbert Beyer and Orville and Roger Beyer in infancy.
Funeral services Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano, Pastor
Fred Zimmerman, officiating. Interment with Military Rites performed by the Shawano American Legion Post #117, Shawano VFW Post #2723 and the Shawano 40et8 at Woodlawn Cemetery of Shawano. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Services of Shawano and after 10 a.m., Saturday at the Church till time of services.
