Hollowell's obituary --
- John C. Hollowell, 77, of Grand
Island died Sunday, July 25, 1999, at Wedgewood Care Center.
- Services will be at 10 A.M. Wednesday
at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Martin Schmidt
- officiating. A family prayer service
will be at 9:45 A.M. Burial will be in Wiegert Cemetery in rural
Hall County.
- Visitation will be from 4 to 9 P.M.
Tuesday at Livingston-Sonderman Funeral Home. The family will
greet friends from 5 to 7 P.M.
- Memorials are suggested to the Lutheran
High School Foundation.
- Mr. Hollowell was born on Oct. 6,
1921, at Honey Grove, Texas, to William and Ada (Smothers) Hollowell.
- After attending schools in the area,
he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps.
- He married Dorothy Niemoth on Nov.
26, 1943, in Worms. Mr. Hollowell worked for Maytag Co. and
- Fairacres Dairy until joining Business
Men's Assurance Co. in 1959. He started Insurance Agency Center
in 1972.
- He was a member of Trinity Lutheran
Church and enjoyed reading and following politics.
- Survivors include his wife; three
daughters, Bonita Vejvoda of Doniphan, Sharon Bady of Grand Island
- and Mardell Larson of Funk; one
son, James Hollowell of Grand Island; nine grandchildren; two
step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.
- He was preceded in death by eight
brothers and three sisters.
