-- John Calvin Hollowell's obituary --


John C. Hollowell, 77, of Grand Island died Sunday, July 25, 1999, at Wedgewood Care Center.
Services will be at 10 A.M. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Martin Schmidt
officiating. A family prayer service will be at 9:45 A.M. Burial will be in Wiegert Cemetery in rural Hall County.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at Livingston-Sonderman Funeral Home. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 P.M.
Memorials are suggested to the Lutheran High School Foundation.
Mr. Hollowell was born on Oct. 6, 1921, at Honey Grove, Texas, to William and Ada (Smothers) Hollowell.
After attending schools in the area, he joined the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He married Dorothy Niemoth on Nov. 26, 1943, in Worms. Mr. Hollowell worked for Maytag Co. and
Fairacres Dairy until joining Business Men's Assurance Co. in 1959. He started Insurance Agency Center in 1972.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed reading and following politics.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Bonita Vejvoda of Doniphan, Sharon Bady of Grand Island
and Mardell Larson of Funk; one son, James Hollowell of Grand Island; nine grandchildren; two step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers and three sisters.
