- St. Libory - Harold Bader
- Harold Bader, 76, of St. Libory,
died Thurs., Sept. 16, at Redwood City, Calif. following surgery.
Services
- are 1:30 p.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran
Church in Worms. There will be a family service at 12:30 p.m.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to
4 p.m. Sunday at Peters Funeral Home in St. Paul, and also at
the church, Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. Memorials are suggested to
the church or the "Lutheran Hour".
- Mr. Bader was born on Jan. 13, 1917,
in Merrick Co. He grew up on the family farm and attended
- Merrick County rural schools. After
his education, he continued to farm with his family.
- He married Evelyn Niemoth on Oct.
3, 1948 at Worms. The couple lived on the family farm north of
- Worms their entire married life.
In 1982, they were awarded the Ak-Sar-Ben Pioneer Farm Award,
recognizing family farms more than 100 years old.
- He was a member of the Zion Lutheran
Church and had served on many of its boards and committees.
- He was a member of the Lutheran
Laymens League, of which he was vice-president. He was a past
member of Palmer District 49 School Board, Platt-Duetsche Society
of Grand Island, Grand Island Saddle club, Nebraska Polled Hereford
Association and the Nebraska Cattlemen's Association.
- He enjoyed his family, woodworking,
and gardening.
- Survivors include his wife of St.
Libory; three daughters, Judy (Mrs. Jack) Baker, Seattle, Wash.;
- Beverly (Mrs. Dale) Rubesh, St.
Libory; and Kristy (Mrs.Gary) Smith, Palmer; one sister Ellen
(Mrs. Lyman) Wedemeyer, Ravenna; and seven grandchildren.
- He was preceded in death by his
parents, August and Christina (Helzer) Bader, and an infant son,
Howard
- Allen Bader.
