Bessemer News -- Station Agent Here
Joseph F. Niemuth who was station agent for the Chicago and North Western Railway company at
Marshfield for several years and was previously located at Ramsay is now employed by the company as its agent in Bessemer. Niemuth succeeded Louis Wudi who was transferred as station agent to Hurley.

Joseph Niemuth Retires After 44 Years Service
BESSEMER -- Joseph F. Niemuth, Bessemer supervisory station agent for the Chicago & North
Western Railroad Co., retired yesterday after 44 years service for the company.
Mr. and Mrs. Niemuth plan to leave Sunday for Dallas, Tex., where they will make their home.
A native of Zittau, Wis., Mr. Niemuth was graduated from the high school in neighboring Birnamwood,
and completed a business course at Thomas Jefferson School of Business, Chicago, Ill.
After graduation he began his service for the Chicago & North Western Railroad Co. on Oct. 22, 1911,
as clerk to the station agent at Birnamwood and served subsequently at Manitowish, Wis., before being appointed station agent-telegrapher at Ramsay, in April 1917. He served there for 15 years, being transferred in 1932 to Marshfield, where he served for seven years.
In 1939 he came to Bessemer, as supervisory agent at the local station, retiring after 16 years service
here.
Mr. and Mrs. Niemuth, the former Emma Frank, of Shawano, Wis., has [have] been an integral part of
this community for 31 years, and have been active in social and community affairs. While living in Ramsay, Mr. Niemuth was a member of the first library board, assisting in the organization of the library system. He was well known for his histrionic ability, through his activity in the annual stage productions, sponsored by the mining company. In other fields, he worked on War Bond drives and engaged in other community services. His major activity has been in the work of the Masonic Order. He is a past master of the Marshfield Masonic Lodge; past High Priest of the Minerva Chapter, Royal Arch Masons, and a member of the High Priesthood of the Michigan Grand Council of Royal Arch Masons; is past Thrice Illustrious Master of both the Marshfield and Bessemer Council of Royal, Select and Super Excellent Masters.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Niemuth are members of the First Presbyterian Church and its organizations. Mrs.
Niemuth has been active in the Ladies Aid Society; is a member of the Bessemer Woman's Club and the Home Arts Club; and is a member of the Dorcas Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, in which she has served as chaplain and held numerous other offices.
Mr. and Mrs. Niemuth have one daughter and two sons, all of whom are graduates of the A. D. Johnston
high school. Their daughter Muriel, now Mrs. Daniel Schaaf, lives in Riverdale, Ill.
Irving J. Niemuth, a graduate of the University of Illinois, is in Dallas, Tex., president of the American
Securities Co., Incorporated with the I. J. Niemuth Insurance Co.
F. William Niemuth, a graduate of the University of Oregon, is employed by the U.S. First National Bank
at Hood River, Ore.
The Niemuths have eight grandchildren.
