LOYAL Club Has Dinner Meeting
Forty-eight members of the LOYAL club of Immanuel Lutheran church attended the regular dinner
meeting last evening in the church. Guests were Dale and Phyllis Heins.
After the covered dish supper, the business meeting was conducted by the president, Marvin Zastern,
and the topic discussion on "Recreation" was led by Vicar Robert Oberhe_.
Those on the serving committee were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Marty, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Niemoth, Mr.
and Mrs. Jim Peterson, [and] Mr. and Mrs. Lester Mueller.
Entertainment was provided by Mr. and Mrs. Ray Brdleko and Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Doescher.

Personals
W. M. Niemoth attended a zone conference of the Aid Association for Lutherans life insurance society at
the Curtis Hotel in Minneapolis April 24-27. Mr. Niemoth was one of 110 representatives from nine states participating in the conference.

44 members at LLL meeting
The Lutheran Laymen's League of Immanuel Lutheran church met Tuesday evening, with 44 members
present.
Herman, Brakenhoff, president, conducted the business session, and the Rev. A. H. Guettler gave the
prayer.
Henry Eilers joined the League at this meeting.
The group decided to show a mission film in the church basement on June 8.
Election of officers was held, as follows: Herman Brakenhoff, president; Adolph Otte, vice president;
Lester Mueller, secretary; Melvin Grotelueschen, treasurer; Bill Niemoth, roll call chairman.
The topic was led by Allen Ahrens. The refreshments committee was composed of Lester Mueller, Bill
Niemoth and Marcus Nepermann.
The June meeting of the League will be "Ladies Night."

Mr. and Mrs. William [Wilmer] Niemoth attended the funeral of his uncle, Arthur Niemoth, Saturday at
St. Libory. On Sunday they visited Mrs. Niemoth's brother, Dale Hellwege and family at Palmer.

Attend Lutheran Laymen's League convention
The Columbus area was well represented at the 43rd annual convention of the Lutheran Laymen's
League held in Minneapolis, Minn.
Attending the four-day session last week were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Wolfe, Miss Adele Miessler, Miss
Ollie Miessler, W. M. Niemoth and Allen Ahrens. Mr. Ahrens is vice president of the Nebraska L.L.L. and Mr. Niemoth is roll call supervisor for the state organization.
Delegates were told that Christians should not only give financial support to the church, but should also
"give their Christianity."
Henry G. Barr, businessman from Fort Smith, Ark., was elected president of the 119,000-member
organization to succeed Adolph W. Herrmann of New Orleans. Chosen financial secretary was Harold E. W. Bohlmann of St. Louis, Mo.
The convention approved a resolution combatting "immorality, violence and bad taste in pictures,
programs and publications." Another resolution urged League members "to fulfill their double obligation as Christian and as citizen" by exercising their voting franchise "carefully and prayerfully."
Portland, Ore., was chosen as the 1962 convention city. The 1961 meeting will be held in Wichita, Kan.
Combined with the convention was a leaders conference in which representation of the League's 41
geographical districts in the U.S. and Canada met in five workshop sessions.
