Fire Damages Neenah House
Short Circuit Thought Cause of Blaze at Niemuth Home
Neenah - Smoke and soot caused considerable damage to the entire interior and clothing and furnishings
at the Arthur Niemuth home, 165 N. Western avenue, Saturday night. The Niemuths were visiting relatives at Larsen when the fire broke out.
Firemen said the fire probably started from a short circuit in a light switch in a bedroom. The house is a
new home which the Niemuths have occupied for about 18 months.

Visiting Relatives
Firemen were called at 7:06 p.m. Saturday when an employe[e] at the Neenah Electrotype company
noticed smoke coming out of an attic vent and called over to a neighbor, William Quella, 169 N. Western avenue, who notified the fire department.
The house had been locked since 1 p.m. when the Niemuths and their two children left to visit relatives at
Larsen.
The entire interior has to be redecorated and all the clothing, including that which was in the dresser
drawers, as well as all furniture and furnishings was blackened by the soot and smoke.
Mrs. Niemuth said she was able to borrow some clothes from relatives until she can get her washing and
dry cleaning done. The family is staying with relatives at Larsen meanwhile. A load of clothing which had been in a hamper was destroyed by the fire which burned much of the bathroom, a bedroom wall and several door frames.
