Oppor Family Has Annual Reunion At Fairgrounds
Weyauwega - At the Weyauwega fairgrounds the eighth annual renunion of the Oppor family was held
with about 170 members present. After the picnic dinner a short business meeting was held and the president awarded the following prizes: First to Gust Kapitzke, for being the oldest member present; second to Herman Niemuth of Stetsonville, for coming the longest distance to attend the reunion; third to Herman Niemuth of Stetsonville, for having the largest family present - 12 in number; fourth to Duwain Martin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Niemuth, born May 13, for being the youngest member present; fifth to Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Rach for being the couple present married nearest the date of the reunion.
Allen Kapitzke, the historian, gave a reading on the Martin Oppor family.
The following officers were elected for 1937-38: president, George Redman, Waupaca; vice president,
Fred Oppor, Manawa; secretary, Martha Schroeder, Weyauwega; historian, Allen Kapitzke, Oshkosh. Records show 572 living members. During the last year there were 11 births, 7 deaths, and 6 marriages. Members were present from Fond du Lac, Oshkosh, Stetsonville, Larsen, Weyauwega, Waupaca, Sheridan, Hortonville, New London, Appleton, Fremont, Allenville, Antigo and Manawa.

Opper Family Reunion Draws Crowd of 218
The 38th annual Opper Reunion was held at the Dale Community Park with 218 persons attending.
The total number of living descendants of the late Martin and Louise Opper is 1,480. There were nine
marriages, 16 births and 17 deaths recorded since last year.
Officers for the 1969 reunion are president, Lyle Wolfgram, Appleton; vice president, Lewis Eckstein,
Larsen; treasurer, David Redmann, Oshkosh; secretary, Mrs. Eugene Niemuth, and assistant secretary, Mrs. Robert L. Niemuth, both of Fremont; and historian, Mrs. Freida Redmann and assistant, Mrs. Harold Backer, both of Weyauwega.
Members of the board are Mr. and Mrs. Gene Arndt, Appleton; Mr. and Mrs. Volvia Fischer, Fremont;
Mr. and Mrs. Art Merry and Mr. and Mrs. William Eckstein, Oshkosh, and Mr. and Mrs. Arden Kempf, Weyauwega.
The 1969 reunion will again be held the first sunday of August at the Dale Park.
