OSHKOSH MAN IS HONOR GUARD FOR GEN. M'ARTHUR
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Meyer, 911 Eighth street, have received word that their son, Pfc. Merton Meyer,
in Tokyo, has been named an honor guard of Gen. Douglas MacArthur.
Private Meyer, who was on Okinawa with the Seventh cavalry before moving to Japan, wrote of the
starvation among the Japanese in the city and said he has not seen one building in Tokyo that has not suffered from the bombing. Private Meyer entered the service Dec. 28, 1944.
Meyer's father is a member of the Oshkosh police force.
