 From the Secretary

Ken Baker

I do not have a long report this time.  There have been no new members reported to me since the last meeting.  I will say that we have several events coming up in the coming months that you need to attend if at all possible.  The two that I urge you to attend the Workshop and the outing in March at Camp Tonk.  That is when we will spend the day getting the fish out and having a time of fellowship.  As usual with this club, eating will be a part of it. Seriously it looks like it will be a fun time so bring the family and plan to enjoy yourselves.  I am sure there will be other information this newsletter.

You will also be getting more about the workshop but it is always an informative and enjoyable day. One other item you should be planning soon is the FLYFISH TEXAS DAY in Athens, I think in March.  Many of our club members help in that event and it will truly be worth the trip to Athens.  More information can be obtained by contacting Walter.

If you have not Trout fished at our club project yet, I urge you to do so.  I have been and though I did not catch a lot of fish, it has been fun each time.  Bruce Sublett on the other hand has eaten them up.  As a footnote, I will say I had reservations when we started this.  But I will say again, I think it has been worthwhile, I have enjoyed it and frankly I think it has been a success and I hope we can do it again.

See you at the meeting and as always "A BAD DAY FISHING BEATS A GOOD DAY WORKING'

From the Editor

This is a very brief newsletter since no one is contributing this month. If it makes you feel bad, then please send something in the future. This is your newsletter and it will die without your support.

There are many fly fishing shows and activities taking place in the next few months (check out the club calendar below). Bill Heugel and I will be taking part in most of them so if you would like to go with us, we need to start planning now.

I want to invite you all to get involved with Fly Fish Texas this year, March 5th. Last year we had 1,400 visitors at the event. We still need volunteers to teach different aspects of fly fishing. If you volunteer, I will get you a gate pass, nametag and lunch ticket and of course, give you time to enjoy the festivities. Bring your kids and grandkids to get them certified as fly fishers (you can also do this) and enjoy the show. We have many speakers and demonstrations during the day, casting classes and a casting course to help improve your casing. You will be able to fish for our stocked trout in the main pond, the fly fishing stream or the rear pond. Visit http://flyfishtexas.org/ to see our program. I hope you will volunteer to help and come enjoy the day.

Request from the Dallas Fly Fishers

Hi Walter, The Dallas Flyfishers annual auction will be April 23, 2005. If your club would donate some flies to the auction our club would reciprocate to whatever fundraiser your club might have. As you know, we have some excellent tiers in the club and can produce some quality flies that can bring pretty good prices. We have a couple of clubs that we do this with now, and always look forward to buying other tier's flies.

Let me know what you think.  Thanks, Bill Sargent
