***** Ellis Island *****

Ellis Island

Ellis Island became the processing center
for many immigrants arriving from abroad after
the closing of "Castle Gardens".

The Great Hall, housed within the main structure, was where millions of immigrants waited to be processed.

The structure, as we all know it, was opened in 1900, after the original building was destroyed by fire.

Today, the structure contains within it an Immigrant Museum and on the grounds also an American Immigrant Wall of Honor.
