THE TALL SHIPS RACE 2005

TYNESIDE TO NORWAY 28TH JULY

The Groyne Lighthouse at the river mouth at South Shields.... x marks the spot where we stood and watched the ships leaving the Tyne on what must have been one of the coldest days of the summer 52F with a cold east wind blowing off the sea .and it rained heavily ...we were soaked through .lol....but it was worth it.

After four wonderful days of celebrations with over a million visitors from all over the world and ending with an amazing firework display .........I couldnt have missed seeing these majestic ships set off on the final leg of the race........here are some of the ships leaving the river
