Reported from Limerick, 30th July:
Treneglos, when coming up the river under full steam, got ashore on the
Bridges Rocks and is in a dangerous position. Lighters
are about being sent to her.
Reported from Limerick, 31st July:
Treneglos, reported yesterday on Bridges Rocks, parted during night, bow
dropping into deep water; aperture in side fully 3ft;
midship portion high up on rock; stern also dropped considerably;
cargo washing out of No.2 hold; fear whatever is saved
will be all damaged; crew employed salving stores;
two lighters alongside loading cargo.
Reported from Limerick, 8 Aug: Lloyds Agents have
saved and sold by auction about 700 tons damaged
maize ex steamer Treneglos, realising £2,400 in round
numbers; the charges will be heavy and of course will
come out of the said sum. It is thought likely that about 100 tons more cargo may be saved
from the
after part of the wreck.
