The Ash Wednesday Storm 1962

The morning after the storm,

we were not allowed on the Promenade until the roads were cleared.

The slip used to run up to the West,

which encouraged the sea up on to the Promenade.

It was the original slip. It has now been re-built rising to the East

This shows the old slip, and the end of what was Battenís Wharf

The Jubilee Bathing Pool took a real beating

It is just too astounding to accept that stone and metal

can be thrown around like balsa wood
