Texas Lutheran University, in Seguin, traces its origin to 1891, when the First Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Texas founded the Evangelical Lutheran College of Brenham, Texas. The Reverend Gottlieb Langner served as its first president. He married (1) MARIE NEUMANN Abt. 1892. She was born 05 Oct 1863 in Mallmitz, Silesia, and died 24 Jan 1897 in Brenham, Texas. He married (2) ELISABETH CAROLINE BETTY ERNESTINE WAEDEKIN 01 Feb 1898 in Washington County, Texas, daughter of KARL ADOLF FRIEDRICH BERNHARD WAEDEKIN and HELEN STICHERT.
