She married (1) JAMES NEWTON PETTY January 25, 1905 in poss
Bandera Co., TX, son of JIM PETTY and FRANCES SCHOONOVER. James
was born Abt. 1867 in AR, and died Abt. 1917. (James Petty's
sister (Maggie Petty) married Marion Davis.) (Marion was
Emma's brother.)
She married (2) FRANK JOHN FRANKLIN MCKINNEY May 27, 1920 in poss
Sabinal, Uvalde Co., TX, son of WILLIAM MCKINNEY and MATTIE
PETTY. He was born September 26, 1891 in poss Live Oak Co TX, and
died July 15, 1960 in Uvalde Mem. Hosp. 7 pm Fri. (I am not sure

FRANK JOHN FRANKLIN MCKINNEY: I have Frank's obit from Uvalde
Leader news. SRC
Frank walked with a bad limp. Seemed something was wrong with
one of his hips. Story was... Frank was standing behind a big
truck while loading sheep to take to market. Somehow the truck
rolled back over him. In all the years that I knew him, I
don't remember hearing him complain. In this world there are
some people that travel through and don't leave
'footprints'. Frank McKinney left large
'bootprints'. His life and actions will be remembered a

of self inflicted gunshot to heart.
(Granpa had threatened suicide for many years. No one believed
him. He had very poor eyesite, almost blind since a young man. I
have his bilfold and drivers license. It says he had blue eyes,
was 5 ft. 7 in. and wt. 127 lbs. I also have his suicide note. It
is very hard for a family to accept a suicide. There are many
questions: Why? What could I have done?) SRC

Notes for her husband JOHN MADDOX: Grannie said John had a
sister living in Rocksprings, Mrs. Jim Hunter. She went to
see her to ask if she knew where John was. The sister told Rosie
to go home and forget him that he was no good and had been in
trouble with the law. John disappeared before little Johnie was
born in the winter of 1912. Rumor was that Cug and another man
killed John because John was going to tell the Sheriff that Cug
and the other man had murdered a man. Found no records in Bandera
County to support. SRC

JOHN L. MADDOX: Worked for Mr. Campbell on a dairy near Uvalde.
Johnie is buried in Old Uvalde Cem., turn left at
entrance, make first right turn, he is on left with cement curb
around his grave. My Grannie shed many tears about losing her
only son so young. Till she died, she had a small shoe box with
personal things related to him. A tiny baby shoe, a dingy
handkerchief, a pencil written poem, a letter he wrote to her and
the last letter she wrote to him, asking why didn't he write.

donated her body to science for study, then was to be cremated.

(Granpa wanted a boy child but had 3 girls. He called Frankie
"PETE" and treated her like a boy. She followed him
around and he made her help care for his horses. She would open
the gates, carry water and feed, and use the curry
brush.)

in poss LLano, TX, and died September 17, 1979 in Kerrville, Kerr
Co., TX.
He married (1) PEARL BELL June 30, 1916, daughter of
THOMAS TOM BELL. She was born Abt. 1892, and died Abt.
1978.
He married (2) MINNIE ______ Abt. 1930.
He married (3) RENA Ezell Abt. 1945. Rena was b.6-6-1907.
She died after 1996 __________ in Canton, TX of Lymphoma.
FORT DAVIS: Fort died in Sid Pete. hospital in Kerrville TX. He
was a Methodist. Owner of 5 points barbershop.
(He divorced Pearl in Brady TX, Divorced Minnie in Hondo TX. said
Rena 2-11-1996.)
When Fort died, Rena moved to her home town of Canton TX. They
are both buried there.
