Abodes

There are really only two clans of SHERBURD in the IGI records – one based in Essex and one based in London.  The Essex clan only seems to have been in that part of the country between about 1665 and 1700.  At this time there were no SHERBURDs recorded living in London.  This would suggest that the SHERBURD clan escaped from London at the time of the great plague of 1665 and the great fire of London of 1666 and moved back to London after it was rebuilt.

Children

Another possible child is John SHEARBOOT, baptised 12 April 1767 at Spitalfields, Christ Church, Stepney.

The IGI records for the SHERBURD family are sketchy, so it has been impossible to determine John's marriage.

It would seem that John and Mary did not christen their children immediately upon birth, as was the common practice at that time, since there are several overlapping baptism dates for their children – unless of course there were two John and Mary SHERBURDs having children at this time and having them christened at the same churches!
