Mary Ann Elizabeth STEVENSON was born on 1 November 1859 at Millwood Plains, White Hills to James STEVENSON and Maria Sophia MAWER.  No name given on the birth certificate – unnamed female.  The informant was E A MIZAU of Evandale. Mary Ann's birth was registered 6 days later on 7 November 1859.

Burial

Mary Ann was buried on 11 November 1953.  The funeral left Rose Cottage, Exton for burial at St Mary's Anglican Church Cemetery, Hagley.   The tombstone inscription reads:

Mary Ann died on 9 November 1953 aged 94 years.  Her death notice in The Mercury of 10 Nov 1953 read:

TRETHEWIE – On November 9, 1953, at Rose Cottage, Exton, the residence of her daughter (Mrs B Loone), Mary Ann Elizabeth, beloved wife of the late William John Trethewie, late of Hagley, aged 94 years.

Marriage

William John TRETHEWIE married Mary Ann Elizabeth STEVENSON on 16 (or 10) July 1878 at the residence of the bride, in the parish of St Paul’s, White Hills.  They were married by Arthur CASS according to the rites and ceremonies of the church of England by license.  William was a widower aged 29 years.  Mary Ann was a spinster aged 19 years.

Witnesses to the marriage were Thomas Lamont STEVENSON (Mary Ann's cousin) and Henrietta KAYE (Mary’s aunt).
