He died in his 89th year. At the time he was a resident of Campbell Town with 5 living sons, 1 deceased son and 6 living daughters. His death was registered on 21 October 1939 by J Lockett, Undertaker of Campbell Town. Cause of death was chronic myocarditis. Medical attendant was Dr R M Webster. (Reg No. 81/1939) The Mercury death notice of 20 October 1939 read: JENKINS – On October 19, 1939, at his residence, Church Street, Campbell Town, James Frederick, beloved husband of Caroline Jenkins, in his 89th year. ImmigrationAccording to his death certificate, James was a resident in Australia for 67 years. Therefore, he must have immigrated from England circa 1872, at about the age of 21 years. MarriageJames Frederick JENKINS married Caroline PRESNELL on 20 June 1883 in the residence of Mr PRESNELL (Caroline's father) at Mount Seymour in the district of Oatlands. They were married by Lachlan CAMPBELL according to the rites and ceremonies of the Presbyterian Church by license. Witnesses were Thomas PRESNELL (Caroline's brother or father) and Esther PRESNELL (Caroline's sister). James was a bachelor aged 27 years. Caroline was a spinster aged 22 years. The marriage notice in The Mercury of 26 Jun 1883 read: JENKINS-PRESNELL – On June 20, 1883, at the bride’s residence, Mount Seymour, by the Rev. L.L. Campbell, James Frederick, second son of William Jenkins, of Surrey, England, to Caroline, second daughter of Thomas Presnell, of Mount Seymour. |
