MarriageJohn William COWLEY married Hazel Joy HINGSTON on 17 November 1928. They were married at the Methodist Church, 96 Margaret St, Launceston. Hazel and John went to school together at White Hills; both living in the White Hills area whilst growing up.
OccupationsIn 1931, at the time of son Lindsay's birth, John and Hazel were living in a cottage on the "Everton" property near Evandale. The property was owned by MCKINNON. John worked as a farm labourer on the property of his uncle Allen Richard Aubrey CHUGG, "Glen Ard", near Evandale. After 1931, John and Hazel moved to live on John's parents farm at White Hills and John worked on the farm as a farm labourer. At this time, John also bought a carrier/carter business and operated this from White Hills. In 1945, John bought a farm at Chudleigh, TAS and the family moved there. In 1949, John sold this farm and bought one at Mt Seymour, TAS and the family moved again. John farmed at Mt Seymour until his retirement in 1966. |
