Dear Ellen I am again Seated to write you a few
lines to let you know that I am Still well & with the
Regt hope those few lines will find you well
I am verry Sorry to hear of little Rosys Bad health
But I hope he may recover. But Should the All wise
being Se fit to take him to himself it is immaterial
where his boddy is burried But Dear Ellen do not burry
the child before he is dead. you Speak of the heavy Dr
Bill it does not make any difference what the Dr Bill
is when any of the Family are Sick have a dr called if you
think it necessary. you ask in one of your previous letters
whether you Shall furnish the house or not I would just
answer by saying you are managing the affairs at home &
you can do just as you please whilst I am from home
& I will not accuse you of Bad (management) did me
I am not Gealous Ellen I do not wish to know what you
have done with your money I expect if I did you would say
you had not Spent it foolishly But I guess you are out of debt know
and Some money left and taking all in all I guess you are doing first
rate but just let me give you a little advise I want you to not take the
histiricks you Seem to be verry much cast down you & Millie rites the Same
thing and over & over you Say Pap has returned from ??? & he is sick &  (??? uncertain)
doing bad know who is doing bad & who is sick. in one letter you say I
have the debts all paid off & Twoo notes lift the next letter you say must

you are out of Debt or not you Say in one letter uou have not settled with

riting write so I can understand what you mean & dont settle down in

by him to express to you & I want you to
give it to Father you will See the bullet hole through the
cuff of the Sleve also under the cape of the right Side & front.
you ask how I Spent new year & Christmas & what I had to
eat and whether Plenty or no on Chrismas my break fast was a
part of An old rooster my dinner was one ear of Parched corn beet
up fine with Plenty Shugar & coffee my Supper was the Same as din
the suply train not yet up But on the morning of the 26 plenty rations
& New years day I had plenty fresh ham beef coffee Sugar Molasses
& Bread but I never enjoyed any thing more than the Beet corn
& sugar Hunger is the Best of Sauce Thos L Cole is with the regt but
promoted to Quartermasters Sergt Non Com Staff I have a splend
Shanty with Brick chimney & floor with good bunk Plenty Blankets
plenty to eat plenty mony & no poor kin I must now close
my letter nothing new to enemy near & I think we are
Settled for this winter Georg Peters Says tell you that our sun of Bich is
ready that is our hard bread boiled Soft George is cook to day our cook
is gone to mill is Harman working for you tell me all about
matters about home how much hay will you have to sell
