Dear Ellen I am well at present & do hope those
few lines will find you and all the children well
I have not heard from home since I left home I thought
I would rite you a few lines to let you know how I am
& where I am we are camping in Sight of nashville we
are throwing up fortifications & digging trenches etc etc we
think that we will stay here all winter and I hope we will

bbl Bacon 15 cts coffee 80 cts per lb Shugar 50 cts Butter one dollar
pr lb molasses 2.00 per gal Hogs gross 6.2 cts per lb gross beef
6 cts per lb corn 1.50 cts pr Bushel chees I was up in the
citty to day with Capt Wheeler & Lieut Lopp and we took
dinner & what do you think was the Bill only $1.00 and nothing
Extra at that little aples are worth 5 cts apiece well Ellen I have
just finished a letter Orderly Bower he is at home sick
I told him to call as he comes Back and stay all nite
with you & if he does call I want you to treat him
mity well as he is a good friend of mine send me lots
of good news By him I must close my letter as it is
about 11 oclock at nite
give my respects to all my friends and receive my love yourself
tell Cate Mc that John & Ham is well Tom Henthorn was left sick
at Danville & I have not heard of him since he left If he rites home

we have no hope of a fight soon
