The Captain William D. Everitt house is located off U.S. Highway 31 approximately 3.5 miles south of State Highway 56 in Scott County, Indiana, and approximately 1.5 miles south-southwest of the town of Vienna. The house was constructed during the Civil War and remained in the Everitt family until the 1960s.

By the end of its first hundred years, the house fell into disrepair (photo 1) (photo 2) and was bought and sold a number of times before being purchased around 1968 by the Walter Clark family. The Clarks have beautifully restored the house and grounds, as it appears now in the above photos, and they continue to live in the home today.

The house is referred to as a being a Federal style house and is constructed of local materials. Older family members recall that a brick kiln was present on the grounds in the early part of this century, from which the bricks for the house were made. The house is situated in a walnut grove and the wood from walnut trees has been used in construction of the house, including the walnut bannisters in the stairwell leading to the second floor.
