The Everitt Family in The Chronicle
The Chronicle was an early Scott County, Indiana weekly newspaper for which editions are available on microfilm beginning in the early 1880s. A few of the earliest editions were published in Austin, Indiana, but the vast majority were published in Scottsburg, Indiana. Items have been copied as they appeared, including spelling errors (with a few of my own, no doubt), although some longer articles have been paraphrased for sake of space.The Chronicle was a "Republican" paper and, as many of the early Everitts were republicans and some were local office holders, the family was regularly mentioned in its pages. An attempt has been made to include as many Everitt family descendants as possible, however some items may have been overlooked, especially for non-Everitt named individuals.
