He is listed as being from Niagara or Niagara Falls, New York. The following letter was received in July, 2008:

My name is Erwin Flohr and I am 38 years old and live in the Netherlands. Last May 25 was Memorial Day at the National American Cemetery in Margraten, Netherlands where 8,301 American soldiers are buried. I adopted a grave there of an American soldier who was killed in action in the second world war. This to honor the soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom of Europe and my country.

That Memorial Day I noticed that there were very little flowers at the walls of the missing. On these walls there are names engraved of the soldiers who are missing in action. Because of what I saw I decided to adopt one of these names. These men also deserve respect and recognition. Just last weekend I received the certificate of adoption and it is the one of Leroy M. Stahlman from Niagara, New York. He went missing in action on November 3 1943. He was of the 368 Bomber Squadron 306 Bomb Group Heavy. His serial number was 12167387 and he was a Staff Sergeant.

What I would really like to know if there are still relatives or other people still alive who knew Leroy M. Stahlman. Maybe there are other people who heard about him later. As he was from Niagara County I was hoping that you might have some clues for me where to look or who to contact.

I hope to hear from you soon. Best regards,
Erwin Flohr
