He married Helen Jane Elizabeth Thurston, daughter of Daniel Holt Thurston and Jane Drown Shackley, on 22 October 1871.2 He was buried in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.4

The census of 1880 shows William H. Hubbard, William was a shipper in a cracker store. They had a servant, Bridget Gilman, 22, from Ireland, and Helen J. E. Hubbard, listed with Alice J. Hubbard, Annie L. Hubbard and Grace G. Kelley living at Cambridgeport, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.1
