     John Day Howard was born on 16 February 1815 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.2 He was the son of John Day Howard Jr. and Sophia Hinckley.1

He married Matilda J. Towne.3 He had a home 2 Unity, Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts in 1850, and was a trunk maker.4

The census of 1880 shows John D. Howard, John was a factory worker. Also in the household was his sister-in-law, Almira F. Towne, 47, who was a book folder, and Matilda J. Howard living at Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.3

In 1896, he was a trunk maker.5

He died on 16 January 1896 in 16 Cherry St., Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, at age 80 of old age.5 He was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.2

      He was descended from Charles Howard, Duke of Norfolk.1 John Day Howard was born on 1 April 1759 in Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. He was a Revolutionary War prisoner and a seaman.

He married Lucy Clark, daughter of Richard Clarke and Elizabeth Winslow, on 1 September 1785 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.2

The census of 1 May 1791 shows John Howard, Also in the household was one male under 16 [John Day Howard Jr.], and one other female, and Lucy Clark, listed with John Day Howard Jr. living at Boston.3

He died on 14 March 1836 in Dorchester, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, at age 76.4 He was buried in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.

He married Sophia Hinckley, daughter of Ebenezer Hinckley and Anna Morton, on 3 October 1807 in Westford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. In 1823, John Day Howard Jr. was a stockholder. at the North National Bank, Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts.

He died in 1838.1

Howard, 3, at school, in the household of William H. Howard and Harriet M. Howard, at Watertown, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.3

She married James Smith Garland in 1869.1

The census of 1900 shows James S. Garland, 57, a school principal, and Kate A. Garland, 53, listed with Louise Garland, Charles Garland and Harriet M. Howard living at Wood Street, Concord, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. It appears they owned a large boarding house.2

She died on 23 May 1933 at age 86.1

She married James Madison Moore.2

The census of 1850 shows James M. Moore, a tailor with $3000 real estate, and Lucy Moore, listed with Sophia H. Moore, Lucy A. Moore and James M. Moore Jr. living at Chelsea, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. Also in the family were Daniel Moore, 76, from New Hampshire; Mary W. Moore, 64, from Connecticut; and Catherine O'Harra, 19, from Ireland.3

The census of 1860 shows James M. Moore, 40, a mer. tailor with $4600 real estate and $2000 personal estate, and Lucy Moore, 41, listed with Sophia H. Moore, Lucy A. Moore and James M. Moore Jr. living at Chelsea. Also living there were John L. Moore, 47, from N.H., a merchant with $1000 real estate and $1500 personal estate; Mary A. Moore, 18; John L. Moore Jr., 16, a clerk; and Alice G. Moore, 10, attending school. These last three children were born in Mass. The family is listed adjacent to that of Lucy's brother Samuel Howard.4

The census of 1870 shows James M. Moore, a real estate broker with $6300 personal estate, and Lucy Moore, keeping house, listed with Sophia Moore, Lucy Moore and John Moore living at Waltham, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Also in the household were E.H. Pierce, 29, a lawyer; Emily W. Pierce, 27, and Hattie Pierce, 5 months, all from New York; Martin Morrissey, a jobbing laborer, and Mry McGrath, a domestic servant, both from Ireland.5

The census of 1880 shows James M. Moore, a real estate agent, and Lucy Moore, keeping house, listed with Sophia Moore and Martha J. Moore living at Derby Street, Waltham, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Also in the household was Mathew Hewett or Hervit, age 40 or 48, a servant and gardener from Ireland.6

She died on 14 February 1899 in 24 Thorpe Place, Somerville, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, at age 81 of general paralysis (old age).7 She was buried in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.7
