     Lieut. John Hammond was born on 2 July 1626.3 He was the son of William Hammond and Elizabeth Payne.2 He , aged 47, emigrated with his mother Elizabeth Payne in April 1634 from Ipswich, Suffolk, England in the ship Francis.4
John lived at Watertown, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.2

He married Abigail ---(?)--- as his first wife.5

He married Sarah Nichols in 1664 in Charlestown, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, as his second wife.5

In 1690 his assessment was the largest in the town, and next his was that of William Bond, Esq. May 16, 1665, he was appointed guardian of his kinswoman, Mehitabel Hawkins.4

He married Prudence ---(?)---, as his third wife.5

He died on 22 November 1709 in Watertown, at age 83, aged 85 years, 4 m., according to the gravestone; probably should be 82. His Will was dated 18 Nov, Inventory dated 29 Nov and Will proved 9 Dec 1709. Inventory £961.4,3

Hammond was a popular teacher of schools in Bow and adjoining towns, and a responsible office holder, having been selectman and treasurer several years.2 He was born on 29 November 1844 in Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.3 He was the son of Thomas W. Hammond and Lucy A. Quimby.1 The census of 1850 shows John C. Hammond in the household of Thomas W. Hammond and Lucy A. Hammond, at Bow.4 The census of 1860 shows John Hammond in the household of Thomas W. Hammond and Lucy A. Hammond, at Bow.5

He married Mary Augusta Hazeltine, daughter of William Hazeltine and Lydia Perkins Woodbury, in 1867 . They were third cousins.2

The census of 1880 shows John C. Hammend, a farmer, and Mary Augusta Hazeltine, listed with Willie N. Hammend living at Bow.6

He died on 28 December 1900 at age 56.7

Hammond in the household of David Hammond and Esther Hammond, at Dunbarton, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.4

He married Anna E. Whitney on 10 December 1862 in New Hampshire.2,5

The census of 1880 shows John McC. Hammond, John was a carpenter. Also in the home was his neice, Nettie M. Hammond; three laborers from Ireland, Jeremiah Murphy, 45, Jerr McCartey, 45, and Charles Traverse, 35; two laborers born in Massachusetts, John Murphy, 25, (probably Jeremiah's son), and John Flynn, 28; and and a lather, James Wood, 40., and Anna E. Hammond, listed with Horatio B. Hammond, Harriet J. Hammond, James E. Hammond and Anna E. Hammond living at Concord, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.6
