Frederick Fletcher Hale was born on 20 June 1841 in Portland, Cumberland County, Maine. He was the son of Oliver Hale Jr. and Harriet Waite. The census of 1850 shows Frederick F. Hale, 7, attending school, in the household of Oliver Hale Jr. and Harriet W. Hale, at Waterford, Oxford County, Maine.1 He and Adelaide L. McLellan published their marriage intention on 10 October 1865 in Portland.
He married Adelaide L. McLellan on 25 October 1865 in Portland, Married by Rev. A. Dalton, clergyman of Portland.
The census of 1880 shows Fred F. Hale, Fred was secretary of Lebanon Acton Mining Co. Also in the household were his aunt, Jane McLellan, 60, and a servant, Annie Haney, 33, from Nova Scotia, and Adelaide Hale, listed with Edith McLellan Hale, Frederic G. Hale and Arthur McLellan Hale living at Portland.2
He married Adelaide L. McLellan on 25 October 1865 in Portland, Married by Rev. A. Dalton, clergyman of Portland.
