He married Laura Matilda Prescott on 27 August 1851.1 In 1853 , Amos Hadley moved to at Concord, Merrimack County, New Hampshire,, and in connection with Cyrus Barton, published for several years the "State Capital Reporter," a Republican newspaper.1 In January 1857, Amos Hadley entered into company with George G. Fogg, Esq., for the publication of the "Independent Democrat," also a Republican newspaper.1
He married Adriana Shannon in October 1857 in Concord.1 In 1867, Amos Hadley dissolved his connection with the paper, and was appointed to the responsible office of superintendent of public instruction of New Hampshire.1

He died on 11 June 1881 in Dunbarton, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, at age 64.3,4
