The census of 1860 shows Zenas Cary, a farmer, and Susan Carey, listed with Daniel Cary, Mary L. Cary, Emily F. Cary and George W. Cary living at South Reading, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.2 The census of 1870 shows Susan Cary, 65, at home, in the household of Daniel Cary and Mary Elizabeth Green, at Wakefield, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.3 The census of 1880 shows Susan Carey, 79, mother, widow, housekeeper, in the household of Daniel Carey and Mary L. Carey, at Wakefield.4
She died on 9 April 1889 in Wakefield, at age 87 of bronchitis.1 She was buried in Bethel, Oxford County, Maine.1
