She married Benjamin W. Lake, son of Henry G. Lake and Emily Cates, in 1903 or 1904.2

The census of 1910 shows Benjamin W. Lake, a general farm laborer, and Bertha M. Clay living at Main Street, Atkinson, Rockingham County, New Hampshire. Also living with them was Benjamin's father-in-law, Charles H. Clay, 62 and listed as married for 40 years, a laborer at odd jobs, and a niece, Althea M. Clay, 6 years old.2

The census of 1920 shows Benjamin W. Lake, a farm laborer, and Maude B. Lake, listed with Marion F. Lake living at Main Street, Atkinson. Also in the household was Nenjamin's father-in-law, Charles H. Clay, 71, and still listed as married.3

He died in 1943 in Bow.1 He and Elvira A. Colby were buried in Evans (North) Cemetery on White Rock Hill Rd, by Turee Pond, Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, in the same plot with Harry D. Clough, Ann S. Page, Alfred C. Carson and Rae P. Clough.3
