     Daniel Carey was born on 25 November 1804 in Paris, Oxford County, Maine.1 He was the son of Ebenezer Cary and Martha Brock.2 He worked for Amariah Harris of North Paris, Me. from the time he was eleven years of age until he was sixteen.
As of between 1825 and 1884, Daniel lived at Waltham, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.

He married Harriet Livermore Dix on 13 April 1834 in Waltham.3

The census of 1870 shows Daniel Cary, 66, a farmer with $15,000 real estate and $200 personal estate, and Harriet Livermore Dix, 55, keeping house, listed with George Washington Carey and Sarah A. Cary living at Waltham.4

He died on 11 February 1892 in Waltham, at age 87 of pneumonia. He was a farmer.1

They had a domestic servant, Ann E. Denlinger, 23. Also in the household was a bookkeeper, Frank F. Taylor, 21, from Pennsylvania.6

He married Emma ---(?)--- in 1898 or 1899.7

The census of 1910 shows Edward M. Carey, 66, self employed, and Emma Carey, 49 living at 900 Hammond Street, Red Oak, Montgomery County, Iowa. Also in the household was a servant, Anna Johnson, 49, of Swedish parentage.7
