Moses lived at Newton, Rockingham County, New Hampshire.1 He was born on 26 June 1723 in Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Samuel Colby and Anna Nickols.
He married Mary Sargent on 24 February 1742 in Amesbury.1 He and Mary Sargent were members of at Second Church, Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, in 1744 Moses and Mary renewed the covenant.1 He was baptized on 18 March 1743/44 in Second Church, Amesbury.1 In 1773, Moses Colby moved to Dunbarton, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.2
He died in 1797.3

Moses Colby was born on 7 June 1751 in Newton, Rockingham County, New Hampshire.2 He was the son of Moses Colby and Mary Sargent.1 He was baptized on 21 July 1751 in Second Church, Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts.1
As of from 1761 to 1766, Moses lived at Jamaica, Windham County, Vermont.3 In 1766, Moses Colby moved to South Hampton, Rockingham County, New Hampshire.3 On 30 November 1776, Moses Colby enlisted at South Hampton, New Hampshire as a Sergeant under Captain Ballard, in the New Hampshire Line, to fill up a company. He was stationed in the college buildings at Cambridge, Massachusetts for two and a half months, then was discharged.3 In November 1777, Moses Colby enlisted at South Hampton for four months under Captain Page, served out his entire term at Winter Hill, Massachusetts, and was discharged at the end of his term.3
He married Miriam Barnard on 17 February 1778 in South Hampton.4
On 1 October 1778 Moses Colby enlisted at South Hampton under Captain Prescott. He marched to Worcester, Massachusetts, thence to Peekskill, New York, and served out the full term of two months. He never received a written discharge, but served eight and a half months.3 After the revolution, Moses Colby moved to Warner, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.3
He married Susanna Silver on 27 September 1790 in Dunbarton, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.5
He died on 25 September 1832 in Warner, at age 81.6
