He married Mary Davis in November 1771 in Haverhill, Essex County, Massachusetts.3

In 1776, he signed the Association Test.1

The census of 1790 shows Sargent Colby, The household had two men over 16, and two females, living at Dunbarton, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.3

The census of 1800 shows Sargent Colby, The household had one man and one woman, both over 45, living at Dunbarton.3

     Capt. Sargent Colby was born on 17 June 1800 in Dunbarton, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.1 He was the son of Samuel Colby and Sarah Partridge.1,2

He married Jane E. Hogg on 7 November 1819 in Dunbarton, They were married by [Walter Rams V. D. M. ?? very illegibe].3

He married Ruth Ann Colby, daughter of Enoch Colby and Sarah Senter, on 4 July 1822 in Dunbarton, . They were 2nd cousins.4,5

The census of 1850 shows Sargent Colby, 50, a farmer with $2,000 real estate, and Ruth Colby, 48, listed with Horace S. Colby, John Colby, George Colby, Caleb S. Colby, Mary J. Colby, Lousia M. Colby, Frank Colby, Edward H. Colby, Sarah A. Colby and Matthew W. Colby living at Dunbarton. Also in the household was Mary Cass, 75.6

The census of 1870 shows Sargent Colby, 70, a farmer with $2,000 real estate and $800 personal estate, and Ruth A. Colby, 67, keeping house, listed with Charles Colby, George Colby, Ann Colby, Henry Colby, Mary J. Colby, Emma Colby and Eliza Colby living at Dunbarton, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.7
At his son's marriage 24 November 1870, he was described as follows
     Sargent Colby

..........Birthplace: Dunbarton, N.H.3


He died on 23 May 1880 in Dunbarton, at age 79.8,9 He was buried on 25 May 1880 in Stark Cemetery, Dunbarton, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, Sargent was a friend of the Stark family.10,8

She married William P. Short on 13 March 1839 in Bow.2

The census of 1870 shows William P. Short, 57, a farmer with $5000 real estate and $2400 personal estate, and Selonda M. Colby, 53, keeping house, listed with George W. Short, Harriet A. Short, Sarah W. Short, Stickney F. Short, Josiah H. Sargent, Abby M. Sargent and Minnie B. Sargent living at Bow. Also living there were Frederick Drown, 18, a farm laborer from Maine; and Mary Wheeler, 24, a teacher from New York.3

The census of 1880 shows William P. Short, 67, a farmer, and Salenda M. Colby, wife, 63, keeping house, listed with George W. Short, Harriet A. Short, Sarah W. Short, Stickney F. Short, Maggie M. Short and Henry M. Short living at Bow.4

She died on 20 March 1897 in Bow, at age 80.5 She and William P. Short were buried in Alexander Cemetery on River Road, Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.6

     Simon Perkins Colby was born on 21 August 1797 in Weare, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.2 He was the son of Samuel Colby and Lucy Perkins.1

He married Betsey Wood on 31 December 1818 in Weare.3

From 1833 to 1840, Simon Perkins Colby was one of the side judges of the court of common pleas.4

He married Louisa Bartlett on 6 October 1840 in Weare.5

In 1842 and 1843, Simon Perkins Colby was elected to the New Hampshire senate. e was a democrat, was a good debater, and often went with Hon. John L. Hadley, to Clinton Grove lyceum, to discuss political questions with Moses A. Cartland, Hon. William H. Gove and others. He took a great interest in the prosperity of his town, was often appointed agent for the transaction of its business, and was one of the committee of three to build the present town-house. For many years he was the clerk of the Freewill Baptist church, and was afterwards a member of the Universalist society.4 He died on 9 October 1844 in Weare, at age 47 of heart disease. He attended court at Amherst that day, came home, said he was unwell, lay down on the bed, and in a few minutes expired.4 He was buried in Hillside Cemetery, Grasmere, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.6

     Solon Baker Colby was an avid historian, and served as President Emeritus of the Meredith Historical Society, the New Hampshire Archeological Society and the Colby Ancestry Association.2 He was born on 25 July 1900 in Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.2 He was the son of Frank Edgar Colby M.D. and Caroline Priscilla Dubia.1 He was graduated in 1918 from Concord High School.2 He was graduated in 1922 from Colby Academy.2

He married Marion Shirley Paine on 15 June 1922 in Penacook, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.2
Solon lived at Meredith Neck, Belknap County, New Hampshire.2 In 1971, Solon Baker Colby was presented the Charles B. Price Memorial Award of the NH Archeological Society for devoting 50 years of dedicated labor in the archeological field. After studying the New Hampshire Indians and making many lectures on the subject, he authored a book titled "Colby's Indian History".2

He died on 18 May 1971 in Exeter, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, at age 70.2 He and M. Shirley Paine Colby were buried in Evans (North) Cemetery on White Rock Hill Rd, by Turee Pond, Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, in the same plot with Bruce Colby Brouillette and Mark A. Brouillette.3

She died on 22 August 1818 in Hebron, at age 2.3
