     Luther Colby was born on 23 July 1826 in Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.1,2 He was the son of Levi Colby and Dolly Green Davis.1

He married Hannah B. Palmer on 8 February 1853 in Merrimack, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.3

The census of June 1880 shows Luther Colby, Luther was a railroad section master. William was a hardware clerk. Also in the household were Charles Kennison, 25, and Fred Kennison, 27, both chiropedists from New Hampshire; and Maria Kennison, 23 from Maine., and Hannah Colby, listed with William Colby, Ella Colby, Fannie S. Colby and Florence B. Colby living at Somerville, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.4
As of 1904, Luther lived at 50 Francesca Ave., Somerville, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, with J. Willard Jones, the informant for Luther's death certificate.2

He died on 2 April 1904 in 370 Upham Street, Melrose, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, at age 77 from apoplexy due to an old heart trouble.2 He was buried in Wyoming Cemetery, Somerville, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.3

Luther Colby was a bridge builder.2 He was born on 14 April 1804 in Hebron, Grafton County, New Hampshire.3 He was the son of Ruben Colby and Sarah Ball.1

He married Hannah R. Page on 30 October 1827 in Hebron.2 In 1853, Luther Colby and Hannah R. Page moved to Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan.2

He married Betsy (Ladd) Thomas on 13 December 1871.2
Luther and Betsy lived at Alpine, Kent County, Michigan.2

He died on 13 August 1888 in Grand Rapids, at age 84.4 He was buried in Fulton Street Cemetery, Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan.5
