He married Hortense Kimball on 25 February 1890 in New Hampshire.4

The census of 1910 shows S. Emmons Colby, head, 50, farmer, and Hortense Colby, wife, 42, mother of one child still living, listed with Nira M. Colby and William Dow Young living at Green Road, Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.5

He died on 19 November 1950 in Concord, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, at age 90.2

He married Ann S. Davis on 28 October 1856 in Bow.4

He married C. Juilette Howe on 28 September 1870 in Lebanon, Grafton County, New Hampshire.5,6

The census of 1880 shows David A. Colby, 51, a farmer, and Caroline J. Colby, wife, 47, keeping house, listed with Elvira A. Colby, Cora M. Colby and Clarence J. Colby living at Bow.7

The census of 1900 shows David A. Colby, a farmer, and Juliett C. Colby, listed with Cora M. Colby and Clarence J. Colby living at Bow. Also in the household was a boarder, Dennis McLaughlin, 16, a farm laborer from Massachusetts.8

He died on 7 February 1909 in Bow, at age 80.4 He and C. Juilette Howe were buried in Alexander Cemetery on River Road, Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, in the same plot with Clarence J. Colby and Annie Colby.2
