     Alexander Colby was born on 26 June 1788 in Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.3 He was the son of Jonathan Colby and Martha Alexander.1,2 He appeared on the census of 1 May 1791 in the household of his grandparents, Abraham Colby and Elizabeth Blaisdell, at Bow, Rockingham County, New Hampshire.4

In 1814 Alexander Colby went to the defense of Portsmouth.3 The census of 1850 shows Alexander Colby, a farmer, in the household of Robert Ordway and Sally A. Ordway, at Bow.5

He died on 21 May 1860 in Bow, at age 71 He never married.3 He was buried in Ordway Cemetery off Ordway Lane, Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.3
