     Eli Colby was born on 3 June 1786 in Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.3 He was the son of Jonathan Colby and Martha Alexander.1,2 In 1791 or 1792 , Eli Colby went to live with Grandfather Samuel Alexander on River Road, Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.3 He appeared on the census of 1 May 1791 in the household of his grandparents, Abraham Colby and Elizabeth Blaisdell, at Bow, Rockingham County, New Hampshire.4 In 1802 or 1803 , Eli Colby moved to at Bath, Sagadahoc County, Maine,, where he learned the joiner trade.3
As of 1805 or 1806, Eli lived at Saco, York County, Maine.3 From 1807 to 1857, Eli Colby was was extensively engaged in the building up of Ellsworth, Hancock County, Maine.3

He married Sarah Hardison Jordan on 3 April 1810 in Ellsworth.3

The census of 1850 shows Eli Colby, a farmer with $1,000 real estate, and Sarah Colby, listed with Charolett Colby, William Colby, Luther Colby and Edmund Colby living at Waltham, Hancock County, Maine.5

He died on 9 November 1876 in Waltham, at age 90.2

Colby and Mahala Colby living at Hooksett, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.5 Between 1860 and 1870, Elijah Colby moved to Hopkins, Allegan County, Michigan.3 He appeared on the census of 1870 in the household of his son and daughter-in-law, S. W. Colby and Elizabeth Colby, at Wayland, Allegan County, Michigan.6

Colby, Marietta Colby, Elijah Colby and Elijah Colby living at Wayland, Allegan County, Michigan.4 In 1873, Elijah built a house at Bradley Road and Colby Street, Bradley, Allegan County, Michigan.1 He died on 12 March 1876 in Bradley, Allegan County, Michigan, at age 44 from a saber wound.1

She married Simeon Batchelder in 1853 in New Hampshire.3

The census of 1880 shows Simon Batchilder, Simon was a farmer, and Eliza Batchilder living at Hooksett.4

     Eliza Jane Colby was born on 26 February 1832 in Goffstown, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.1 She was the daughter of Symmes Sawyer Colby and Louisa Ordway. The census of 1850 shows Eliza Hodge, 17, in the household of John Colby and Eliza Colby, at Manchester, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.2

She married Hiram O. Hodge in 1853 or 1854.3,4

The census of 1860 shows Hollis O. Hodge, 30, a laborer with $50 personal estate, and Eliza J. Hodge, 28, listed with Fidelia Hodge and Ida S. Hodge living at Manchester.5

She died on 13 April 1862 at age 30 according to Ronald M. Colby's website. This is not in agreement with the data I currently show.6

The census of 1880 shows Hollis O. Hodge, 49, working in the Amoskeag Cotton Mill, and Eliza Jane Hodge, 48, keeping house, listed with Delia Whitten, Ida E. Hodge, Orietta Hodge and Harry E. Hodge living at 6 Stark Street, Manchester, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. Also residing with the family was Elca Hill, 32, from New York, working at the cotton mill.7

The census of 1900 shows Hollis O. Hodge, 70, an extracts peddler, and Eliza J. Hodge, 68, listed with Etta Simmons living at 17 Charles Street, Danvers, Essex County, Massachusetts.3 The census of 1910 shows Eliza J. Hodge, 78, mother of 6, of whom 3 were living, in the household of Edgar E. Stanyan and Ida E. Stanyan, at Maple Street, Wenham, Essex County, Massachusetts.8
