     Capt. John Brown was born say 1655 in Malford, Worchester. He was the son of Nicholas Browne and Elizabeth Leids.

He went to England in 1660 to look after certain property to which he had become heir, but returned.2,3

He married Anne Fiske on 30 May 1677 in Chelmsford, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.

He died on 12 March 1717 in Reading, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.

     Jonathan Brown was born on 23 July 1741 in Reading, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Jonathan Brown and Mehitable Hay of Stoneham.

He probably located on the lot No. 106, occupying a house built some years before by Benjamin Gould. He was first taxed in 1764 and in 1769 a public school was kept in his house. On 3 Jan 1771, he purchased of Joseph Lynde, of Charlestown, lot No. 105, lying directly south of the Hay lot, which was long known as the Brown estate, more recently owned by Asaph Carter and his son Edward R.1

He married Huldah Hawkes on 1 March 1764 in Leominster, Worcester County, Massachusetts, while on his way from Reading to Portsmouth [p. 1943 says Westminster].1

He died on 14 March 1820 in Westminster, Worcester County, Massachusetts, at age 78.
