Walter S. H. Turner was born on 23 March 1843 in Massachusetts.^1,2 He was the son of Stephen Turner and Betsey Maria Thurston Carter.¹

The census of 1880 shows Walter S. H. Turner, Walter was a machinist, and listed as married. He was living with Alex Dosois, 28, a machinist; Jules Peron, 66, a blacksmith; and Riene Messer, 22, a laborer. All three were from Canada, living at Worcester, Worcester County, Massachusetts.²
