Samuel Perley Strickland was born on 25 June 1801.1 He was the son of Hastings Strickland and Sarah Perley.1
From 1820 to 1833, Samuel Perley Strickland was a merchant at New Portland, Somerset County, Maine.1
He married Frances E. Cushing of Turner, Me. on 20 March 1823 as his first wife.1
Colonel and major general in the State militia, was State legislator 1827-57-58-62; was State councilor 1832; one of Gen. Grant's electors-at-large. He was a Democrat till the formation of the Republican party, which he joined. He was wealthy. He was a Unitarian, and believed that "after death, God is the father of us all."2 In 1833, Samuel Perley Strickland moved to Bangor, Penobscot County, Maine, where he partnershiped with Maj. Amasa Crafts.1
In 1834, Samuel Perley Strickland and Hastings Strickland were lumber merchants. Their mills were extensive, they handled large forests, and manufactured millions of feet of lumber. In 1850, they dissolved, each pursuing the same business and taking his son as partner.3
He married Ruth W. Bacon of Buxton, York County, Me. on 12 April 1846 as his second wife.1

He served the city of Boston in the Common Council as a Republican, 1900-1901.1

Isabel Strobridge was born in October 1847 in Vermont.1
She married Frank Kimball, son of Ira Kimball and Betsey Carter, on 23 March 1875.
The census of 1900 shows Frank Kimball, 49, farm laborer, and Isabel Strobridge, wife, 52, mother of four, of whom two still living, listed with Ida M. Kimball, Nellie J. Kimball and Walter B. Kimball living at Peacham, Caledonia County, Vermont.1
She died about 1911.
