     George Byron Strickland was born on 16 October 1842 in Livermore, Androscoggin County, Maine.¹ He was the son of John Strickland and Julia A. Sawin of Lansingburg, N. Y.¹

George Byron Strickland was superintendent of schools and selectman.¹

He died after 1880.¹

     Hastings Strickland was born on 18 August 1768 in Nottingham, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, son of Rev. John and Patty (Stone) Strickland of Turner, Me.¹

He married Sarah Perley, daughter of Samuel Perley and Hephzibah Fowler, on 13 June 1793 in Gray, Cumberland County, Maine.¹ Hastings Strickland moved to Livermore, Androscoggin County, Maine, where he had a large farm with extensive orchards.¹

He died on 11 March 1829 at age 60 of dropsy.¹

In 1834, Hastings Strickland and Samuel Perley Strickland were lumber merchants. Their mills were extensive, they handled large forests, and manufactured millions of feet of lumber. In 1850, they dissolved, each pursuing the same business and taking his son as partner.³

In 1846, Hastings Strickland was State legislator, was member of a Presidential nominating convention at Baltimore, was nominee for Congress two campaigns; was State councilor 1856. He was charitable and liberal, and had hosts of friends. He was a Universalist, then a Unitarian. He was always a Democrat.²

     Isaac Strickland was born on 17 December 1796.¹ He was the son of Hastings Strickland and Sarah Perley.¹

He began the business of drover in 1817; was a deputy sheriff in his native county, Oxford, 1818-21 inclusive; was several years captain and then major of cavalry; was State legislator 1835-36-46, and senator 1848-9; was postmaster about twenty years; was many years selectman. He was wealthy and one of the most active and influential men in his section. He had a fine physique and commanding appearance. He was a Democrat and Universalist, and contributed liberally to both causes.¹

He married Patty Monroe on 30 September 1821.¹

He died on 4 March 1886 in Livermore, Androscoggin County, Maine, at age 89.¹

     Isaac Strickland was born on 31 January 1831 in Turner, Androscoggin County, Maine.² He was the son of Lee Strickland and Mary Hanson.¹

He married Frances Angelia Wing on 30 July 1857 in Bangor, Penobscot County, Maine.²

In 1906, Isaac Strickland was a dentist at Bangor.²

     Jane C. Strickland was born on 24 January 1823 in Livermore, Androscoggin County, Maine.¹ She was the daughter of John Strickland and Julia A. Sawin of Lansingburg, N. Y.¹

She married Alonzo Washburn on 10 April 1850.¹

She died after 1880.¹

     John Strickland was born on 10 September 1794 in Turner, Androscoggin County, Maine.¹ He was the son of Hastings Strickland and Sarah Perley.¹

John Strickland was a farmer, was a captain in the 1812 war, was a selectman fourteen years in succession and held other important town offices. He stood five feet and eleven inches tall, and straight as an arrow, and smart and lithe as a wrestler. He was a Universalist, a constant church attendant, and liberal in society support. He always did unto others as he would be done by.¹

He married Julia A. Sawin of Lansingburg, N. Y. on 8 April 1821.¹

He died on 20 January 1867 in Livermore, Androscoggin County, Maine, at age 72.¹

     John Turner Strickland was born on 13 March 1827 in New Portland, Somerset County, Maine.¹ He was the son of Samuel Perley Strickland and Frances E. Cushing of Turner, Me.¹

He married Mary Varney of Bangor.¹

He died on 11 November 1868 in Bangor, Penobscot County, Maine, at age 41 of consumption.¹

     Josephine Strickland was born "29 Feb 1834" in Livermore, Androscoggin County, Maine.² She was the daughter of John Strickland and Julia A. Sawin of Lansingburg, N. Y.¹

She married Cyrus H. Pierce on 21 February 1865.¹

She died after 1880.¹

     Lee Strickland was born on 14 July 1806 in Livermore, Androscoggin County, Maine.² He was the son of Hastings Strickland and Sarah Perley.¹

Lee Strickland was a merchant, at the age of twenty-four years was deputy sheriff, was State senator two terms, was a staunch Democrat, raised a company of volunteers for service in the Civil War, was colonel of the 8th Maine Regiment, was postmaster, was selectman several years, was county commissioner eight years, was Master Mason of Oriental Star Lodge, No. 21, of Livermore, He was a Universalist, and an exemplary man in his home, in society and wherever he served.²

He married Mary Hanson on 18 July 1830 in New Portland, Somerset County, Maine, as his first wife.²

He married Susan B. Hanson in December 1864 as his second wife, and her second husband.²

He died on 28 September 1873 in Livermore, at age 67.²

     Lillian March Strickland was born in 1861.¹ She was the daughter of William Hastings Strickland and Clara Leighton.¹

     Lottie Grant Strickland was born on 20 February 1872 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, . The first known relative of mine to be born in P.E.I.¹ She was the daughter of Charles Lee Strickland and Jessie Russell Watson.¹

In 1906, Lottie Grant Strickland was a nurse at Newport, Newport County, Rhode Island.¹

     Lucinda Strickland was born on 7 February 1777, daughter of Rev. John and Patty (Stone) Strickland.¹

She married Nathaniel Perley, son of Samuel Perley and Hephzibah Fowler, on 19 July 1795.¹

She died in March 1842 at age 65.¹
