     Abby M. Short was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.¹ She was born on 31 March 1843 in Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.¹ She was the daughter of William P. Short and Selenda McCawley Colby.

She married Josiah Harrison Sargent in 1863.² The census of 1870 shows Abby M. Sargent, 27, without occupation, in the household of William P. Short and Selonda M. Colby, at Bow.³

She married Caleb Austin Colby, son of Jesse Colby and Sally Persis Austin, in 1879 . They were third cousins. His first and second wives were 2nd cousins of each other.⁴

The census of 1880 shows Caleb A. Colby, 53, a farmer, and Abby M. Colby, wife, 37, keeping house, listed with James E. Colby and Addie L. Colby living at Bow.⁵

She died in 1920 in Bow.² She and C. A. Colby were buried in Alexander Cemetery on River Road, Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire, in the same plot with Addie L. Colby and Frank Henry Colby.⁶

     Amelia C. Short was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.² She was born on 23 March 1848.² She was the daughter of William P. Short and Selenda McCawley Colby.¹

She married Alanson Messer, son of Silas Messer and Nancy T. Hadley, in March 1866.³

     Anna Short was born on 28 March 1682 in Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts, daughter of Henry and Sarah (Whipple) Short.²

She married Thomas Hale, son of Capt. Thomas Hale and Sarah Northend, on 25 January 1704/5.²

She died on 15 November 1770 at age 88.²

     George W. Short was born on 28 June 1840 in Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.¹ He was the son of William P. Short and Selenda McCawley Colby.^1,2

He married Harriet A. Morgan on 29 November 1860.¹ The census of 1870 shows George W. Short, 29, a farmer, in the household of William P. Short and Selonda M. Colby, at Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.³ The census of 1880 shows George W. Short, son, 39, an engineer, in the household of William P. Short and Salenda M. Colby, at Bow.⁴

George W. Short was superintending school committee repeatedly.¹

From 1890 to 1892, George W. Short was on the board of education.¹

He died on 19 July 1913 at age 73.¹

     Henry M. Short was born in 1875 or 1876 in New Hampshire.¹ He was the son of George W. Short and Harriet A. Morgan.² The census of 1880 shows Henry M. Short, grandson, 4, at home, in the household of William P. Short and Salenda M. Colby, at Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.¹

     Maggie M. Short was born on 13 December 1872 in New Hampshire.^1,2 She was the daughter of George W. Short and Harriet A. Morgan.¹ The census of 1880 shows Maggie M. Short, granddaughter, 7, at school, in the household of William P. Short and Salenda M. Colby, at Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.²

     Mehitable Short was born in 1731.²

She married Matthew Hale, son of Thomas Hale and Anna Short, on 21 February 1760 in Amesbury, Essex County, Massachusetts.³

She died on 6 March 1824.³

     Sarah W. Short was born on 13 May 1866 in New Hampshire.^1,2 She was the daughter of George W. Short and Harriet A. Morgan.¹ The census of 1870 shows Sarah W. Short, 4, in the household of William P. Short and Selonda M. Colby, at Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.² The census of 1880 shows Sarah W. Short, granddaughter, 14, at school, in the household of William P. Short and Salenda M. Colby, at Bow.³

She married Jonathan C. Lane on 4 November 1885.⁴

     Stickney F. Short was born on 31 March 1869 in New Hampshire.^2,1 He was the son of George W. Short and Harriet A. Morgan.² The census of 1870 shows Stickney F. Short, 1, in the household of William P. Short and Selonda M. Colby, at Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.¹ The census of 1880 shows Stickney F. Short, grandson, 11, at school, in the household of William P. Short and Salenda M. Colby, at Bow.³

     

William P. Short was a conductor on the Boston & Lowell Railroad.¹ William lived in the Lower Bog district.¹ He was born in 1812 or 1813 in Vermont.²

He married Selonda M. Colby, daughter of Philip Colby and Hannah Bailey, on 13 March 1839 in Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.³

In 1866, William P. Short was elected to the legislature.¹

The census of 1870 shows William P. Short, 57, a farmer with $5000 real estate and $2400 personal estate, and Selonda M. Colby, 53, keeping house, listed with George W. Short, Harriet A. Short, Sarah W. Short, Stickney F. Short, Josiah H. Sargent, Abby M. Sargent and Minnie B. Sargent living at Bow. Also living there were Frederick Drown, 18, a farm laborer from Maine; and Mary Wheeler, 24, a teacher from New York.²

The census of 1880 shows William P. Short, 67, a farmer, and Salenda M. Colby, wife, 63, keeping house, listed with George W. Short, Harriet A. Short, Sarah W. Short, Stickney F. Short, Maggie M. Short and Henry M. Short living at Bow.⁴

He died on 7 March 1882 in Bow.¹ He and Salenda M. Colby were buried in Alexander Cemetery on River Road, Bow, Merrimack County, New Hampshire.⁵

     John Shotwell M.D. was born in 1807.¹

He married Mary Ward Foote, daughter of John Parsons Foote and Jane Warner, on 31 October 1832.¹

He died on 22 July 1852.¹

     Brittany Lynn Shough was born about 1992. She is the daughter of Troy Daniel Shough and Lynn Jones.

     Daniel Pat Shough was born on 13 July 1943 in Logan County, Ohio. He is the son of Paul Evert Shough and Beatrice Fern Chamberlain.

He married Frances Jean Farr about 1963 in Logan County, Ohio.
