David Sherwin was born on 13 March 1761 in Boxford, Essex County, Massachusetts, son of Jonathan and Mary (Crombie) Sherwin.¹

He married Hannah Pritchard, daughter of Paul Pritchard and Hannah Perley, on 28 November 1786.¹
David lived at Rindge, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.¹ In 1790, David Sherwin moved to Jaffrey, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.¹ In 1797, David Sherwin moved to Westmoreland, Cheshire County, New Hampshire.¹ In 1802, David Sherwin moved to New Ipswich, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire.¹ Afterward, David Sherwin moved to Temple, Franklin County, New Hampshire.¹
