He married Lucy Hall, daughter of T. Hall, on 17 May 1786 in Washington.2
The census of 1 May 1791 shows Samuel Smith, Also in the family were four additional females [Nancy, Marilla, and two unknown], and Lucy Hall, listed with Nancy Smith and Marilla Smith living at Washington.3
The census of 1850 shows Samuel Smith, a farmer, listed with Wm. Smith, Julia Smith, Thos. B. Smith and Saml. B. Smith living at Washington. Also in the household was Ellin Jamerson, age 11, born in Connecticut.4
He died on 15 April 1852 in Washington, at age 86.
