Martha Sawyer was born on 17 February 1706 daughter of Samuel and Abigail Sawyer.²

She married Edmund Hale, son of Henry Hale and Sarah Kelly, on 16 May 1728.¹ In 1734, Martha Sawyer and Edmund Hale moved to Haverhill, Essex County, Massachusetts along with Joseph Hale, Edmund Hale and Sarah Hale . This land was set off by running of new State line into Plaistow, N. H. in 1741, and again set off into Atkinson on formation of that town.³
