Gov. George Partridge was born say 1621. He emigrated from Kent, England, according to Winsor's "History of Duxbury."2 The first mention of his name upon the records of Plymouth County was in 1636, when he was granted five acres of land about Duxbury, Plymouth County, Massachusetts,, amounting in all to about 200 acres.2 Winsor styles him "one of the most respectable yeomanry in the colony."2
He married Sarah Tracy, daughter of Stephen Tracy and Tryphosa Lee, in November 1638.2 [CR:]
He was one of the original purchasers of at Middleboro, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.2
In 1643, Gov. George Partridge his name appears in a list of those able to bear arms. Of this office Winsor says, "This was an office of high trust and responsibility and none were elected to it but men of good standing. Later, he was a "Surveyor of Highways" and a grand-jury man. He was either a private or a non-commisioned officer in Capt. Miles Standish's Company.2 His will is recorded in Plymouth County Probate Records (Vol. I, p. 225) and was dated 26 June 1682. An inventory of his estate was taken 10 Oct 1695 and was witnessed by two sons of Miles Standish, Alexander and Josiah, and reads as follows.2
